Our History

SBS comes from humble beginnings. Founded in 1961, we have always been driven by strong family values and a commitment to customer service, specializing in ready-mix concrete and quality aggregates. This dedication led to expansion with batch plants across California's Central Coast, ultimately culminating in the unified company known today as SBS.

Here are a few questions we may ask:

  • How many yards do you need? (If you're unsure, you can give us your measurements and we'll do the math for you)
  • What kind of concrete mix/aggregate do you need? (ex: 6 sack 3/8 mix / sand)
  • Where is the delivery address?
  • What day and time would you like the delivery?

If you like DIY, you can make these calculations yourself! Start by measuring the area. You will need the length, width, and thickness of your slab. Then, you can use our Material Calculator to determine how many yards you will need. As a rule of thumb, when calculating your yardage, its best to round up half a yard, (ex: if calculator says you need 3 yards, its best to order 3.5 yards) this allows a little wiggle room for error. 

Concrete contracts and expands with changes in moisture and temperature. The best defenses against cracking is proper sub-grade and formwork, moderate slump (less than five inches), appropriate curing according to weather conditions, tooled or saw cut jointing, adequate cover over reinforcement. Discuss jointing and curing methods with the contractor that finishes the concrete.

It isn't a lien; rather, it’s a transparent heads-up that a supplier has provided goods—like concrete or aggregate—and is maintaining their legal right to ensure they are paid for those materials. While an unpaid debt could eventually lead to a mechanics lien recorded against your property title, these notices are actually designed to help you track potential claims and ensure your project runs smoothly from start to finish.
